Rothnie is a contemporary mixed media visual artist based in Scotland. Having lived in a globally connected home and attended school in Lagos, Nigeria, her art is informed by a broad base of cultural influences and visual memories. She graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1996 with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture. Fascinated by faces and people she meets she often focuses on portraiture. After taking a break to raise a family and teach, she fully immersed herself in her art practice during the COVID-19 pandemic while painting and listening to The Jam Jah Sessions online. This resulted in having two solo exhibitions shortly after with her paintings turned into large posters displayed at an outdoor concert venue during lockdown. Rothnie continues to show her work regularly and has had work shown internationally including Columbia and most recently as part of touring exhibition in Latvia.
