🎟 Dub On Tap event

Dub On Tap returns in April with a very special session featuring Jam Jah Sound, one of the most enduring and respected institutions in UK sound system culture.

Jam Jah Sound is the live sound system arm of Friendly Fire Music, best known for running Jam Jah Mondays – Europe’s longest-running weekly reggae sound system session, held every single Monday in Birmingham since 2001. For over two decades, Jam Jah have built a reputation for consistency, warmth, and deep musical knowledge, hosting special guests from across the global reggae sound system fraternity.

What sets Jam Jah Sound apart is their live approach – blending heavyweight selections with live MCs and percussion, creating a dynamic, roots-driven experience that feels as close to the foundations of the culture as it gets. Their sessions are relaxed, welcoming, and deeply inclusive – spaces where everyone is invited to dance, connect, and leave their worries at the door.

Beyond their legendary Birmingham residency, Jam Jah Sound have taken their vibrations to venues and festivals around the world, carrying with them a message of unity, culture, and community through music.

Featuring

Robbie Don
Founder of Friendly Fire Music and the driving force behind Jam Jah Sound. A producer, guitarist, selecta, and engineer, Robbie Don creates Jam Jah’s remixes and dubplates from his Friendly Dubs studio, shaping the sound’s unmistakable identity.

Bongo Damo
Founding member of Jam Jah Sound, selecta and percussionist. Alongside his deep musical knowledge, Bongo Damo plays live percussion on the sound, teaches African drumming and drumkit, and is the drummer for Friendly Fire Band as well as a respected session musician.

Myki Tuff
A legendary Midlands mic man, Myki Tuff cut his teeth on Birmingham sound systems including Orthodox and Wassifa, earning the title of Best Midlands MC in the 1990s. After touring the world as a bass player with artists such as Dennis Brown, Tippa Irie, and Elephant Man, he returned to the mic in 2017, joining Jam Jah Sound and Friendly Fire Band and releasing new material.

All of this will be powered by the mighty Valley Steppas Sound System, bringing warmth, weight, and conscious vibration to the Balcony Bar.

This one is for the lovers of real roots reggae, live sound system energy, and the kind of sessions that remind you why this culture exists in the first place.

Come early. Stay late. Let the music do the rest.
