It’s been a long time coming, and many doubted this day would ever happen – but since Tuesday 7th,  new stops have been added to the Camp Hill line, inlcuding Kings Heath Station,  dubbed the “Jam Jah Mondays” stop.

Right in front of The Station Pub, stands the Kings Heath Station, dubbed the Jam Jah Mondays stop, allowing a cheap eco-friendly journey to the world’s longest standing weekly Reggae soundsystem culture event, Jam Jah Mondays, currently in its 25th year of service to the community.

The event referred to as an institution has welcomed on its soundsystem the cream of selectors and artists from the UK, drawing varied crowds from around Birmingham, the Midlands and further afield, each and every week.

Hosted in the function room of the Station Pub, which opens onto a beautiful walled garden, Jam Jah Mondays is hosted by Jam Jah Sound in full effect: Friendly Fire Music’s soundsystem faction. Bongo Damo, Robbie Don and Myki Tuff provide a live soundsystem experience, with guest artists and selectors each week, streamed to the world on Rex Radio, Genesis Radio 101.2FM and of course Jam Jah Sound’s website and mixcloud page.

Ital (vegan) Caribbean and African food served each week by Aisha’s Kitchen, and Maxine holds the merchandise stall, selling vinyl, CDs, Clothing and event tickets.

Currently in its 25th year, Jam Jah Mondays has become a Birmingham institution for successive generations, as demonstrated by the diverse crowd in attendance , covering a range of ages, origins, and walks of life and has just become more accessible!

However the trains will be running until roughly 11.30pm so you will still need a taxi home !
